A simple love of mine: blood oranges. They are my favorite type of orange. Sweet and delicious, yes, but also beautifully colored, fading from a vibrant orange into a deep plum. Their skin in the grocery aisle is a beloved indicator of spring.
They can be difficult to track down, but last week I fatefully ran into them in a grocery store where I very infrequently shop. And when they’re not in season, try a blood orange soda. It never has done me wrong.
